Carrier Options & Ratios

Carrier Pros / Cons Oil : Carrier Ratio
Augeo base Slow, consistent release; ideal for long-lasting performance. 10–25 % oil : 90–75 % base
Dipropylene glycol (DPG) Inexpensive, steady release; needs longer curing. 10–25 % oil : 90–75 % DPG
Isopropyl alcohol Fast-drying. Best for refills, not long-term diffusion. 10–20 % oil : 90–80 % alcohol

Application Tips

  • Petri Dish Method: Lay the freshener flat and add fragrance using a pipette.
  • Use a fine-mist sprayer for designs that may bleed.
  • Under-loading causes weak scent: 2–3 sprays lasts one day at most.
  • The felt should be evenly darkened, never dripping.
  • Turn gently to saturate both sides.
  • Let each side dry for around 10 minutes before recoating.
  • Multiple light coats give best performance and protect the print.

Sealed-Bag Curing

  1. Place treated fresheners in a zip-lock bag and press out air.
  2. Leave sealed for 24–48 hours at room temperature.
  3. Air out for 30–60 minutes before packaging or hanging.

Optional Reusable Re-Spritz

Include a 5–10 ml spray bottle so customers can refresh the scent.

  • Shake before use.
  • Lightly mist every 3–5 days.
  • Store the bottle somewhere cool and dark.

Testing & Optimisation

  1. Test oil ratios at 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%.
  2. Compare longevity and strength.
  3. Record results to find your ideal blend.

Troubleshooting

  • Uneven scent: reduce oil or use a slower carrier.
  • Weak performance: increase oil or ensure full saturation.
  • Fades fast: increase load and allow full curing.
  • Print bleed: apply lighter coats with drying in between.

Safety & Storage

  • Keep carriers away from flames.
  • Label mixes with date and oil percentage.
  • Store finished fresheners in sealed bags until use.

*Small spray bottles are optional for reusable refresh kits.
